Just Eat Proves That Artificial Intelligence Still Needs Human Supervision

28/10 13:30 - Just Eat Proves That Artificial Intelligence Still Needs Human Supervision
Just Eat is an online food delivery service that operates in several European countries, Canada, and India. Recently, they provided pictures for their restaurant listings and menus that didn't already have pictures, using AI generated images. They claim that real people inspected and approved the images, but we can see that someone didn't take that job seriously, or didn't do it at all.The images were quickly taken down after being mocked on social media, but screenshots had already been archived. See, AI image generation depends on prompts, and culturally understood food names do not give enough information to an algorithm that has never eaten anything. There's a big difference between knowing words and understanding that a jacket potato is a British term for a baked potato. It's not the same as a potato jacket. But it gets worse.Toad in the Hole is sausage baked in a Yorkshire pudding batter. But if those words are all the prompt an AI agent has, this what you get. Yum! While this screwup is funny, imagine AI supervising things like air traffic control. See many more of the images generated for Just Eat at Cracked. ...
